Foreign ministry's spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga yesterday reaffirmed the country's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.
All activities of other countries, including the promulgation of legal regulations relating to these archipelagos and Viet Nam's Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf, are totally of no legal value, she told the media.
Nga was responding to queries about Viet Nam's reaction to the passage of a "law on sea island protection" on Saturday by the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee.
"Viet Nam has time and again affirmed its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos," she stressed.
